To participate in the scholarship auditions, students must be members of the Orange County Chapter of the American Harp Society and be 22 years old or younger. All applicants must pay a $20 entrance fee and fill out an application form to be considered for a scholarship. The application form can be downloaded here: Scholarship Auditions Application

The deadline to turn in the entrance fee and application is Monday, September 30, 2013.

Repertoire is free choice, but the piece or pieces chosen must adhere to the specified time limit for each division. Students may register for only one of the following divisions based on their current level of study:

•   Young Beginner: Ages 5-10 years only. 1-2 years of lessons or the equivalent of Grades 1-2 of the Royal Schools Syllabus. Please play one piece of your choosing, up to 5 minutes maximum duration. Repertoire does not need to be memorized.

One prize will be awarded per division, unless otherwise decided by the judges. It is solely up to the judges to determine the winners, and they may decline to award a prize if there is no clear winner.  The decision of the judges is final. Scholarship award amount is dependent on the judges’ determination on the day of the competition.

Please contact our scholarship committee, Kate Loughrey (kloughrey@gmail.com) or Alexandra Perdew (alexandraperdew@yahoo.com), if you have any questions about the application process or auditioning.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at this year’s auditions!

OC AHS would like to thank everyone that came out for the harp social Sunday afternoon!

We hope that everyone had fun hanging out with fellow harpists. We really enjoyed the opportunity to talk with everyone and hear them play. As usual the performances were stunning, and the music beautiful. We would like to thank Peter for coming down from LA with a harp for everyone to play. Couldn't have done it without you! The event was a blast for us to put on, and we are so happy people were able to make it. Hopefully this kind of event will become a tradition with the chapter and will grow.

Once again thank you to everyone who came out Sunday afternoon. We took several pictures at the event and you can view them HERE
